About Malcolm Self

Malcolm Self graduated in chemical engineering from Louisiana Tech University in 1975. He spent 12 years as an engineer before transitioning to being self-employed and owning his own brick-and-mortar business. In 2006 Malcolm attended his first Order of St. Luke: A Ministry of Christian Healing (OSL) conference and joined OSL. Four years later, he became convener of the Imperial Calcasieu Chapter of OSL in Lake Charles, Louisiana. In 2011 Father Jack Sheffield asked him to be the interim Region V director; and in 2013 Malcolm became the full-time director of Region V, which includes Louisiana, Texas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Colorado, serving two 3-year terms.

In 2015 the OSL Board of Directors asked Malcolm to fill a vacancy on the board, and in 2018 Malcolm was re-elected for a four-year term. He is currently the vice president of the OSL Board.

Malcolm Self is a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church in Lake Charles, where he has served on the Vestry, was Sunday School Superintendent and teacher (adult and high school), a Eucharistic Minister, youth group leader, and an Alpha instructor. He has also been involved in the prison ministry.

Malcolm has served on the boards of several non-profit organizations, including Build Your House on the Rock Ministries (an orphanage in Guatemala), Desert Call Ministries, Boys and Girls Villages, and Educational and Treatment Council. He is a founding member of the Healing House in Lake Charles and has also been a missionary to Guatemala. He has written two handbooks, “Kingdom Living for Everyday Life” and “Guidelines for Healing Prayers,” and several articles for Sharing­ magazine. He was also guest speaker on Kingdom Living at several OSL conferences.

 Malcolm has been married for 41 years to Donna Neal and has two sons, Robert, who also lives in Lake Charles, and Daniel (and wife Lauren in Virginia Beach, Virginia) and one granddaughter. He can be reached at oslregionv@gmail.com.
